A message to the students of the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the new Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery, MBRU. I invite you to explore our website and learn more about the college’s dynamic and inclusive community, rich with opportunities for collaborative, interdisciplinary learning and distinctive MSc programs in cardiovascular and pediatric nursing. We aspire for excellence in research, teaching, and scholarly engagement and a global reputation in promoting health and well-being regionally and internationally. To support this, our mission is to engage nurses’, whether it be the recent registrant new to the profession or the more experienced practitioner engaging in innovative and cutting-edge health promoting research. Understanding health care and nursing practice is so much more than gaining technical competence– it demands a cultivation of deep, critical and creative thinking and knowledge about the nature of health and the varied and everchanging contribution of nursing to society. At the college we intend to create foundations of trust and connections that will empower our students to achieve and become competent and confident advocates for clinically based nursing in both the hospital and community setting. Learning nursing from leaders in their academic discipline is one of the many advantages of studying at our college of nursing and midwifery. Another is having access to world class resources and facilities, professional student services that enrich our learning environment. Working in partnership and listening to our students and nursing colleagues in practice regionally and internationally we intend to deliver new and innovative ways to enhance the student experience and on completion of their studies they will have learned much about nursing, but also their capacity to contribute to ensuring a quality and improved health care service for their patients. The road ahead for the College of Nursing and Midwifery is exciting, and I am looking forward to forging new partnerships for the benefit of our outstanding students and staff, as well as engaging in new initiatives with the wider professional and alumni communities. As the Dean, I am both honoured and privileged to lead such an outstanding scholarly community here at the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery. Please take time to browse through our website – you will find a College where our students and staff are engaged, dynamic and global in outlook.
Warmest regards
