MBRU concludes first series of Open Days for its new College of Medicine
The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) announced the successful conclusion of the first series of Open Days to introduce its new Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Program to aspiring medical students for the academic year beginning September 2016.
The MBRU held three Open Days for its new College of Medicine at its campus in Dubai Healthcare City, attended by around 500 students and parents in addition to school counselors. The series aimed to inform participants on admission requirements for the six-year program – offering 50 seats, and showcase the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, medical technologies and learning resources available to students.
Dr Amer Ahmad Sharif, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Education, and Dr Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Dean of the College of Medicine, welcomed the participants, who also benefited from meeting with the faculty and staff members, gaining insight into the academic life at the emirate’s newest medical college.
MBRU, which has an academic partnership with Queen’s University Belfast, one of UK’s leading research intensive universities, is accredited by UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
One of the Open Days was held exclusively for school counselors from the Ministry of Education’s school districts, provided information on all aspects of the university including admission requirement and scholarship opportunities. The series included a tour of the MBRU’s campus including the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center and Al Maktoum Medical Library.
