Overview

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center (KHMSC) is a fully accredited medical education and training facility, committed to improving patient safety through the delivery of simulation-based courses by creating a pathway from pre-admission to discharge. Spread over 34,000 square feet, our Simulation Center is the first of its kind in the UAE. Designed to help educate and improve skills in patient care, by showcasing realistic hospital environments and a clinical skills lab.

Our Facilities

Designed to support the education of healthcare professionals, the Simulation Center provides 11 realistic hospital environments for students to learn and practice new techniques and patient care. The Simulation Center facilities are available to hire by external healthcare professionals and educators and can be configured to simulate a variety of different hospital setups.

1. Intensive Care Unit

Our Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care Units includes neonatal, pediatric, and adult bays.

2. Maternity Ward

Designed to be configured to all birthing scenarios, from a first stage or labor room setup.

3. Operating Theaters

Our fully equipped operating rooms are designed to look as close as possible to real operating theaters.

4. Dental Simulation

Our dental simulation room is where students can learn new techniques and practice dental procedures.

5. Debriefing Rooms

The debriefing rooms can be used to watch training sessions and scenarios from any environment within the center.

6. Clinical Consultation Rooms

Clinical consultation rooms are used to help educate health professionals on how to deal with patient encounters.

7. Emergency Department

Designed to run a variety of scenarios following appropriate Emergency Room protocols.

8. Radiology Room

The radiology room enables simulations in an enclosed environment without the impact of exposure to x-rays.

9. Simulation Control Rooms

Designed to manage, support and educate healthcare professionals throughout the simulation scenarios.

10. Multipurpose Lecture Rooms

Multipurpose lecture rooms are used for workshops, seminars, symposia, or any other group learning events.

11. Patient Wards

The patient wards are designed to be similar to a hospitals' semi-private wards.

Our Courses

The Simulation Center provides a safe environment for healthcare professionals to learn new techniques and procedures. Our training courses have been designed to utilize local policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), clinical guidelines, and evidence-based frameworks.

S.M.A.R.T Course

Simulation-based, Multidisciplinary Approach to AiRway Management and Teamwork (SMART) course will equip you with the skills and confidence to effectively manage airway emergencies in a collaborative and well-coordinated manner.

MBRU Simulation Instructor Course

This course focuses on providing participants the knowledge and skills in the overall design, delivery, debriefing and evaluation of simulation-based education at educational and clinical setting.
