Tom Loney is an epidemiologist with broad interests and expertise in clinical and population-based research assessing the relationship between lifestyle, occupational, and environmental exposures and various health outcomes. He has worked in the UAE for the past twelve years conducting research and providing public, occupational, and environmental health advisory services to the defence, industrial and healthcare sectors. He is part of an international collaboration of researchers, clinicians, and policy makers working on the WHO/ILO joint methodology for estimating the national and global work-related burden of disease and injury, and I have been appointed as a member of the WHO/ILO Occupational Systematic Review Methodology Working Group. Tom’s current research portfolio includes two large population-based prospective cohort studies: (i) Mutaba’ah Mother and Child Study; and (ii) The UAE Healthy Future Study.
