
Barry, has worked as a senior leader, clinician, academic and researcher in health care for over 30 years in the United Kingdom and Ireland. His clinical expertise is within oncology, haematology, and palliative care He is particularly interested in leadership within the changing health care environment and leads a number of modules in Queen’s University Belfast and In Mohammed Bin Rashid University focusing on this important aspect of health care. Barry’s clinical interests include managing symptoms in advanced disease. He is the Chair of two European expert groups, Managing Advanced Cancer Pain (MACPT) and European Oral Care in Cancer (EOCC). Barry has published numerous articles and book chapters on a range of leadership, spirituality, communication, nursing, oncology, haematology and end-of-life care issues. He is a frequent key note and invited speaker at national and international meetings. He is the consultant editor for a leading UK nursing journal, and a senior editor for an international palliative care journal. He sits on the board of a number of international journals and continues to review articles for nursing and medical publications.
