Dr. Al Salami is currently a Program Director and Assistant Professor for the Master of Science and Residency Programs in Pediatric Dentistry at Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine, MBRU. He is a member of both The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, and Ireland. Dr. Al Salami completed his Ph.D. in Dental Public Health and Health Economics at Queen’s University Belfast, UK, and has been committed to advancing academia and research since obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. His scholarly work includes over 30 publications in renowned international journals. In 2017, he published his first book, Oral Health of Children of Incarcerated Mothers at UAE Jail Nurseries and contributed a chapter on “Children’s Oral Health in UAE” to the Comprehensive Textbook of UAE Healthcare.
Beyond his academic responsibilities, Dr. Al Salami serves as a Consultant Pediatric Dentist and Clinical Supervisor at both Dubai Health Dental Hospital and Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, a role he has held since 2018. He has also volunteered as a pediatric dentist with the UAE Red Crescent Medical Center since 2015, reflecting his strong commitment to community service. His exceptional contributions to the field of pediatric dentistry have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the IADR Hutton Award and the DHCC Excellence Award, both presented in 2018.
Dr. Al Salami actively contributes to the development of pediatric dentistry in the UAE, serving as a member of the Scientific and Examination Committees for the Emirati Board in Pediatric Dentistry and the Dental Internship Programs under the National Institute of Health Specialties (NIHS). Additionally, he is a Board member of the Emirates Pediatric Dentistry Club and the International Association for Dental Research (IADR)-UAE Section.
